Did the 100 followers challenge work for you?

Recently I have come across a number of medium article calling for and supporting the group effort to get newbies to a hundred followers. The significance is being monetized on medium. I have commented on quite a few and followed a number of people to test whether the challenge pays in the long run.

There are a few question that arise like, do the people who follow each other really have a desire to read one another's work? Will our stats improve? Will the reads translate into making a decent stream of income from medium?
